Coming to the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz (320 E 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701) on Monday, September 28, 2009:
Wonder Showzen’s Devin Flynn live in person to present favorites from his Cartoon Network show Y’all So Stupid!
After building a strong foundation in DIY art and music-making while living in Providence, R.I. during the Fort Thunder music/art era, Devin Flynn then moved to Brooklyn where these ethics were challenged by the reality of economics. He created his own market by doing animated music videos for friends in up and coming bands like Providence’s own Lightning Bolt, which got the attention of many like-minded individuals. These included a regular spot on MTV’s Wondershowzen, a video in the Liverpool Biennial, animating the title sequence for Adult Swim’s AQUATEEN HUNGER FORCE MOVIE, and culminating all of these experiences in a stream of consciousness web series on Adultswim.com called Y’ALL SO STUPID. Flynn will host as his greatest output is represented in a series of shorts and videos that will detonate your cortex to the max.
I’m so tempting not to tell anyone about this because I don’t want to keep having trouble finding a good seat at the theatre…
I love MUSIC MONDAYS at the ALAMO RITZ. I missed this showing last week, BUT luckily they are showing it again tonight. Hope to see you there! (as long as it isn’t too crowded).
THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE UNNECESSARY SEQUELS CONTEST 2
This was the Challenge: You have one month to make a trailer for a sequel to movie that should never be made. Everyone must use the line: “this time I’m back again for more” and the prop: a joker card.
AH! I’m so excited about Thomas’ Unnecessary Sequel of Powder. Have you ever gone to the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE competitions? They rock. Everyone knows The Drafthouse rules.
Thomas’ Son or Daughter? Of Glen or Glenda? came in close second in the last Film Making Frenzy competition. And last time, for the Be Kind Rewind Competition, his JR version of BeastMaster came in first! Hopefully he’ll win again this time.
You can get tickets here for this coming Tuesday or here for this coming Wednesday.
Here’s a little preview… Can you find me?
PS– If you want to dress participate in the party scene, he’s shooting it on Friday.
So contact me if you’re interested in coming out, dressing crazy, partying, and getting shot.
