BODY CONTROL vol. 3k

BODY CONTROL= A nite of inspired attitudes and dance.
I encourage you to dress with interest, and become a living chandelier.
This is a party.

Relevant words you might hear: Minimal, Maximum, House, Shaq, Darkwave, Top 40,000, Slo-Mo Disco, R&BEAST, Darkwave, Spooky Juke, Cold, Wave Wave, and so on.

This month we feature 2 fine acts, George Quartz and Future Blondes.

FUTURE BLONDES hails from Houston. One might say their sound is that of the horror and mystery of hell, and as if demons had taken over an acid house rave. Some sort of tribal permutation, or perhaps if we bred with aliens during the renaissance.

GEORGE QUARTZ descends from Dallas town. A man of international mystique and charm. One might rumor he was a retired cop who suffered a mid life crises to become some sort of new millennium lounge singer. Something to scare Gaga back into her cave id say. The rhythmic pulse and melody sweep you away into dance.

Moose Lodge End Times

Photos by Stephanie Bonham: Warship Earth at the Moose (above), Moose Insignia (below).

If you’ve had your ear to the hiss-click-whirr of Austin’s Experimental Music Rumor Mill, then you know by now that The End Times are here. Sad but true, Austin Moose Lodge presents it’s final kablaam this Thursday with head-to-heads from Moose Lodge veterans:

§§, Bassturd vs. Skullcaster, Magic Jewels, FM Campers vs Canadacoda, Os Ovni,
Bubblegumshitface vs Breakdancing Ronald Reagan, Mr. Brown & The Plutonium Farmers

The lodge itself isn’t closing, but will no longer be host to the raucous shows that have made it a veritable clubhouse for a lovable band of avant-outcasts. Over the past couple of years, Austin Moose Lodge has hosted a myriad of sonically challenging acts from across the state, country and globe, typically asking little more than a quick John Hancock in the guest book at the door.

Thanks are due to Polly Smith, Jonathan Horne, Bradford Kinney and other modest moose-hearts for weekly events including but not limited to: Monday night noise, Tuesday group improv, Polly’s pick Thursdays & an unbelievable SXSW 2010 line-up with over 65 bands in a single serendipitous day.

So, let us toast to the end of an error:

MOOSE LODGE END TIMES
THURSDAY, AUGUST 12th, 2010
7PM-MIDNIGHT. DON’T BE LATE.
