I know it’s a little early to announce this: but this is obviously a great show in early October. I’m going to be gone for the rest of the month so I figured I’d remind everyone, including myself, ahead of time…

“The Austin Museum of Digital Art’s 44th Digital Showcase is a celebration of video games and the art that they inspire. Renown musicians and visual artists will congregate at Club DeVille on September 20th to display art or perform music they have created using video game hardware, music, graphics or coding.
Two musicians from New York’s 8bitpeoples collective will headline the event. Nullsleep and Bit Shifter create their music using the Nintendo Gameboy and other retro video game equipment. The event will also feature live video art by New York-based artist Voltage Controlled, who uses video game hardware to generate his live visual performance.
This Digital Showcase is brought to you in part by the Arthouse at the Jones Center’s new exhibit RESET/PLAY, a critical exploration of the intersection between video games and visual art. The exhibition is on view at Arthouse (700 Congress Avenue) through November 2, 2008.” - AMODA
Harvest, a group exhibition featuring new work by Austin-based artists Ryan Lauderdale, Dylan Reece, Corkey Sinks, and Anthony Romero, opened last night at MASS Gallery. The show highlighted the group’s overlapping interests in the aesthetics of the supernatural, found objects, and re-appropriated/re-contextualized visions of pop culture and nostalgia.
