Here’s a little insight into the Nanobangbang (10pm) set:

This is quite a musical experiment. Some of these people hadn’t previously met each other much less played together. The first half is based in re-interpretations of old songs, the second half original material.

A different line-up and genre for each song…

Here’s the Set List!

2. “Dreams” — Winston drums, Cari guitar, Allison bass, Deena vocals (keys)

3. “Don’t Die” — Winston drums, Kai guitar, Deena keys (vocals), Christine vocals

4. “Love Cheer” — Deena, Sophie, Maggie

5. “By The Highway” — Chad synth, Deena bass and vox (backing track loop 5)

6. “Call It Bossy, Even” — Eric electronics, Eli guitar, Deena samples

7. “Done with the Day” — Kevin guitar (+ backing track), Henna cello, Deena vocals and windchimes

Danielson w/ Cryptacize Tonight @ Mohawk

Drool! Gaw I’m so in love with Cryptacize. Her voice dropped straight from heaven! And the percussion is so interesting. There aren’t a lot of bands that can achieve accessibility and innovation simultaneously. Crypatacize is a great reference point for the genre of “experimental pop.” Totally catchy, but not necessarily predictable and very inspired.

They are touring with Danielson. Also, Marnie Stern is playing.

Should be a good show tonight at Mohawk.

Brandish This!

Wizard People, Dear Reader is an unauthorized re-envisioning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by Brad Neely.

After spreading rapidly among Neely’s friends in Austin, Wizard People made its theatrical debut at the New York Underground Film Festival, to rapturous applause. We think Neely has crafted an as-of-yet-unnamed new art form, one everyone should experience for themselves.
